Mello Charm by snoday Mello Charm by snoday
I had made Mello to go in the bottle with Near [link] , but he was a little bigger than Near (and I think a little better looking). I think he looks like a rock star or something. I was half-tempted to give him a tatoo. ;P

His hair was the hardest part. I still think it could've been better. The chocolate took me a few tries too, but I'm proud of how it turned out. ^_^ And you can't see it 'cus the chocolate and his arms are in the way, but I have his belly hangin' out 'cus it was in my reference pic. ;3

Made with: a bottle charm, Rubber Sculpey, a needle

you're people charms are really cute but i would suggest painting the eyes on instead of using clay... it gives a better effect.

I used to and found it difficult to get two eyes looking the same... and it seems the paint scratches off easy if you don't glaze the entire piece. Any suggestions for that or examples of what you like better? I may experiment some with clay after I finish my commission.

well glossing the entire piece always works for me. i use a polycrylic wood floor glaze that sometimes has to be dipped twice, but the end result is that the charm outlasts the findings that i use on them.

I have a friend who would be massively interested in commissioning one of these. I read the previous comments; she would keep it on the shelf, for looking-at purposes only. She doesn't have a DA account, so I am commenting you for her.

If you are interested in having her commission one of these little guys, you can reply to me or to her directly at TheMihaelKeehl@gmail.com.

Thanks!

I buy the bottle at our local Hobby Lobby. They have a website for store location, but I don't think they have an online store.

It's cute; do you use it as a keychain, or just a little figurine?

Thanks!

I suppose it COULD be used as a keychain.... I've thought of using it as a keychain, but my last keychain fell right off the ring. Also, the jar is real glass and could probably break. I value my work, so they really just sit on my shelf lookin' pretty.

Well, that makes scads of sense, so I'll leave you alone. x3
It makes me kind of want to make a Mello keychain, though.

What's a scad? O.o;; I just dun wanna lose/break anything.... (I'm hard on my keys, and my daughter finds anything that's not on a high shelf or locked up. She's hard on everything.) Also, I like to think I'm always improving, so I would just be switching them around all the time....

I've thought of making some to sell, but I'm not sure I'd feel right about selling something unless I knew that it was fairly durable (or that ppl would only have it on display).

Haha, 'scads of sense' means 'a lot of sense'.

Actually, if you made those figurines in a manner to where they could be sold, I'm sure you'd have quite the amount of customers. If ever the chance arises, you should definitely do it.

Ahh... I should consider making more.... (I might actually try that soon, 'cus my current venture isn't going very well.)
